Getting away from it all to Santa Teresa, Costa Rica
We wanted a short getaway, a place close to Bogota with a beach, and most importantly, a beautiful place to unwind. I did not know this prior to our trip but Costa Rica is only one and a half hour flight away. So, it was decided then that we are going to spend a week in a small village called Santa Teresa. It was once more famous for fishing than surfing but nowadays, catching waves seem to be the specialty here. And rightly so, there is no denial that the surfing vibe was everywhere in town and at the beach. We stayed at a wonderful resort called Florblanca not very far from the main town. To get there we had to first take a small plane from San Jose to Santa Teresa. Then from there, another 45 minutes car ride to the resort. It sits right on a beach that is so secluded and quiet that most days, you are the only person there. It is an incredible place and so natural, completely untouched and uninterrupted. For us, a week in Santa Teresa is exactly what we needed to recharge and get back into the real world. The resort is not very big and with the vast beach right in front of us, it was absolutely paradise. The food was delicious and everything we needed were there. There was not any reason to leave the hotel other than to Playa Hermosa to watch the surfers do their thing. Everything was perfect from the surreal plane ride over Turtle Island to watching surfers enjoyed every wave as if it was their last. Nevertheless, the one thing that I will miss most is our daily walks along the beach whether to catch the incoming waves, relaxing in the beach pool, to collecting little wonders along the way. These are all such lovely memories to bring back home and hopefully, we will return one day since it is literally just a stone throw away…
